My Purpose                 11/17/20

I’m Abby and I’m a freshman Family Science major and a member of the Public Leadership College Park Scholars Program at UMD. After graduating high school in 2019, I spend a gap year in Israel on the Nativ College Leadership Program based in the cities of Jerusalem and Tiberias. During that year, I studied at the Fuchsberg Center for Jewish Learning for one semester and volunteered the second semester at Neve Kinneret, a living facility for adults with special needs. While I have always been passionate about the necessity for effective young leaders, my time spend on Nativ allowed me to hone in on what makes me a leader and how to use those skills to benefit others.

I am a firm believer in everyday leadership, meaning I believe that leadership should be present within my actions on a daily basis, it does not reside within a title or position. During my time in the College Park Scholars Public Leadership Program at UMD, I hope to gain the skills and knowledge to be able to transform my everyday leadership into actions that have a greater impact on my community. I am so grateful to have the opportunity to participate in this program and look forward to tracking my growth as a person and a leader throughout these two years.
